LE MANS 300

The Le Mans 300 set is pretty much as the UK PT-3000 but lacks the 45 degree curves to make more diverse track layouts. Curiously, this comes with a battery box in 1977. In 1978 it was replaced with a 'battery eliminator' - which is actually a mains power transformer.
The original version also came with 2 plasticard barriers, but these were replaced with full armco type by 1979.
The cars supplied here are identical to the Monza 200, slightly disappointing until you realise that at the time there were only six cars available in the Speedtrack range in 1977.
Of those, only the Porsche & Corvette had lights. Given the mid range niche of this product Matchbox were always going to include these cars, but god, they were dreadful.
