PT-2000 was the next up in the range.
It featured the dynamic Porsche 911 and Chevrolet Corvette. Basically, the set was identical to PT-1000 but as the cars came equipped with working headlights (via 1 'wheat' bulb) Matchbox ditched the battery box and supplied a 6V mains transformer.
The headlights were a big marketing advantage at the time and this set proved extremely popular.
