PP-4000

The PP-4000 was referenced in the Powertrack Plus UK Instruction booklet.

I have several ideas on what this might have incoporated but the fact is this never got past the concept stage.

In the US, the Race & Chase sets had diversified and that included the popular Tyrone Malone Daredevil race. It is possible that PP-4000 was going to be a 12V version of this, though I suspect if that were the case it would have been badged PP-6000.

In the Powertrack Plus booklet the cars are listed in sequence and 'paired off' as supplied in sets. From this, it looks as if the Silver Corvette and the Police car were due to be supplied in a Powertrack Plus set. I think that would have been a PP-6000 set and perhaps the Tyrone Malone version would have been PP-7000...

Speculation is pointless but never the less fun. Afterall, there were differences in the costs of the Powertrack Plus sets to suggest other sets were developed but abandoned due to drastic budget cuts by Lesney.

PP-1000 Would this have been PP-2000?

PP-2000 A set based on PP-2000 with Cross overs?

PP-3000 A set based on Spiderman Race & chase layout using the Crossroad?

PP-4000 A rally set with the Fiat and Saab - the Fiat is shown prominently in the PP-plus book set up..

PP-5000 This would have been PP-3000...

PP-6000 A 12V Race & Chase along the track set up of 'Copter Chase'?

PP-7000 A Racing Truck version of PP-6000 - maybe using T Junctions?

PP-8000 A four lane version of the PT-8000...

PP-9000 As is...
Much of Lesney's slot racing stock was sold off - at least 4 companies/individuals offered trade in the Powertrack and Lanechanger sets. One of the most prominent was a company called Counterlane. An item seen on ebay recently showed a Counterlane box with very distinct Matchbox artwork. The art showed 2 cars racing toward a crossroads - some evidence perhaps that Matchbox were well on with this product at the time the axe fell...
