PP-2000

PP-2000 was the entry level set and not particularly good value. I suspect it was produced so existing 6 volt users could get their hands on the 12V transformer, terminal track and the hand controllers.
No matter, it featured the trademark 'stripey' track, which was a sheet of stickers that you applied to the track. Not that you could take it off again - when they started lifting off at the corners they bacame more of a nuisance - however, night racing looked more exciting certainly!
The excellent Jag and BMW were included, but given the nastiest liveries imaginable. The stillborn cars destined for the USA had better graphics but neither were a patch on the old Powertrack versions.
The cars had wider pick up shoes to promote the contact area when performing power slides. The motors had more winds to increase torque and a different pinion gear/crown wheel ratio to increase acceleration.
The result was that the cars were much faster than the 6V versions. Not only that, the application of power could be much more controlled by the throttle and did actually make racing a controlled application of power rather than the usual on/off effect of toy slot cars.
