The Porsche 936 is little changed here for the Powertrack Plus version. Still white, it does little to expand on the Motorsport heritage of this great Racing car.
Like most Powertrack Plus cars, they were also re-packed and rebranded in Counterlane boxes. The cars themselves differed little and there is little to suggest one is worth more than another.
From my own observations, all the Powertrack Plus cars were sold loose and never came in a Powertrack Plus branded packet. This is a curious anomally in Matchbox's usually excellent packaging.
I was present at the launch of these 12V cars in 1981 and all the cars available then were sold loose.
Intriguingly, the cars available at launch were the TR7 & Porsche from PP-9000, Renault & Porsche 936 from PP-3000 and Jag & BMW from PP-2000. The Police Car & Stingray were also readily available. The Two Racing trucks came along around 6 months later.
Cars conspicuous for their absence were the Escort, Fiat, Scirocco, Corvette & Saab.
I have strong feelings that these were only ever issued by Counterlane.
